\u2728\u00a0Il y a exactement six ans, j\u2019ai pris une d\u00e9cision qui a profond\u00e9ment transform\u00e9 ma vie.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

J\u2019ai quitt\u00e9 un travail exaltant \u00e0 l\u2019ONU \u00e0 Gen\u00e8ve pour me lancer dans une nouvelle aventure : l\u2019entrepreneuriat dans l\u2019\u00e9ducation.<\/p>

Ce n\u2019\u00e9tait pas mon premier saut dans l\u2019inconnu, mais celui-ci \u00e9tait sans doute le plus audacieux de ma carri\u00e8re (d\u00e9j\u00e0 25 ans \u2013 un quart de si\u00e8cle !).<\/p>

\ud83d\udd39\u00a0En 2002, j\u2019ai troqu\u00e9 ma robe d\u2019avocate chez White & Case LLP<\/a> \u00e0 Paris pour rejoindre le Groupe d\u2019action judiciaire (GAJ) de la FIDH -F\u00e9d\u00e9ration internationale pour les droits humains<\/a>.<\/p>

\ud83d\udd39\u00a0En 2005, une nouvelle opportunit\u00e9 s\u2019est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e : nous avons d\u00e9m\u00e9nag\u00e9 \u00e0 New Delhi, o\u00f9 j\u2019ai d\u00e9couvert la richesse et la diversit\u00e9 du travail des ONG indiennes de d\u00e9fense des droits humains. J\u2019ai eu la chance de collaborer avec Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative<\/a> and Housing and Land Rights Network, India<\/a>, avant de contribuer au d\u00e9veloppement de Working Group on Human Rights in India and the UN<\/a> (WGHR).<\/p>

\ud83d\udd39\u00a0En 2012, alors que WGHR prenait son essor, un nouveau changement s\u2019est impos\u00e9 : quitter l\u2019Inde pour nous installer pr\u00e8s de Gen\u00e8ve. J\u2019ai alors rejoint United Nations Human Rights<\/a>, d\u00e9couvrant ainsi une autre facette de la d\u00e9fense des droits humains : celle qui se joue au sein des organisations internationales et des \u00c9tats membres. Un autre prisme, tout aussi essentiel.<\/p>

Pendant six ans \u00e0 l\u2019ONU, une exp\u00e9rience riche d\u2019apprentissages, d\u2019opportunit\u00e9s et de d\u00e9fis, j\u2019ai c\u00f4toy\u00e9 des esprits brillants, engag\u00e9s, mais aussi des id\u00e9alistes \u00e9puis\u00e9s, us\u00e9s par un \u00ab syst\u00e8me \u00bb que tous veulent r\u00e9former sans savoir exactement comment. J\u2019ai moi-m\u00eame senti, peu \u00e0 peu, mon feu int\u00e9rieur vaciller. Tant d\u2019efforts, tant de bonne volont\u00e9… et pourtant, combien d\u2019occasions manqu\u00e9es d\u2019avoir un r\u00e9el impact sur le terrain ?<\/p>

Soudain, une question s\u2019est impos\u00e9e \u00e0 moi : et si je mettais mon \u00e9nergie au service de la pr\u00e9vention plut\u00f4t que de la r\u00e9paration ?<\/p>

\ud83d\udca1\u00a0Et si, au lieu d\u2019intervenir une fois que les pires violations des droits humains ont \u00e9t\u00e9 commises, on outillait d\u00e8s maintenant les jeunes pour construire un monde plus apais\u00e9 et uni ?<\/p>

\ud83d\udca1\u00a0Et si on semait, tr\u00e8s t\u00f4t, les graines de la paix, du vivre-ensemble et de l\u2019engagement citoyen ?<\/p>

C\u2019est ainsi qu\u2019en avril 2019, j\u2019ai pris une nouvelle direction. Non pas parce que le travail dans le domaine des droits humains n\u2019est pas fondamental \u2013 il l\u2019est, plus que jamais. Mais parce que, personnellement, je ressentais le besoin de contribuer autrement.<\/p>

J\u2019ai alors rang\u00e9 mon bureau \u00e0 Gen\u00e8ve, dit \u00ab\u00a0au revoir\u00a0\u00bb \u00e0 mes coll\u00e8gues, et commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 imaginer ce qui allait devenir Gemmes<\/a>, un an plus tard.<\/p>

En regardant dans le r\u00e9troviseur, j\u2019ai une pens\u00e9e pour tous ceux qui m\u2019ont donn\u00e9 mes \u00ab\u00a0premi\u00e8res chances\u00a0\u00bb en cabinet d’avocat, dans des ONG et \u00e0 l’ONU : Fran\u00e7ois Farmine<\/a>, Antoine Bernard<\/a>, Patrick Baudouin, Maja Daruwala<\/a>, Miloon Kothari<\/a>, Rory Mungoven et Andrew Palmer. Merci \u00e0 tous\u00a0\ud83d\ude4f<\/p>
