SPARKS in the Czech Republic

06/09/2024

🌱 A truly inspiring experience in August with the entire pedagogical team at Townshend International School in the Czech Republic!

Over two enriching half-day sessions, we had the pleasure of working with secondary and primary teachers, dorm staff, and the leadership team to introduce SPARKS and its innovative approach to instill empathy and responsibility in the classroom and beyond.

Our training also delved into the essential psychological needs, as framed by Deci and Ryan (1980), providing valuable insights into student motivation.

🌸 What a pleasure for our SPARKS facilitators Krisztina Gaudry and Tania Tam to work with a school, which already has such a strong focus on character development and service to the community!

We are looking forward to following the implementation of SPARKS workshops at Townshend International School and seeing the impact it will have on the lives of students, and their involvement in service projects.

In today’s world, empathy and responsibility are not just values but essential life competencies. The World Health Organization recognizes them as crucial for leading a healthy and fulfilling life. By teaching empathy, we offer students the opportunity to enhance their emotional and relational intelligence. Teaching responsibility, in turn, empowers them, fostering a sense of ownership over their actions and decisions.

The SPARKS approach broadens educators’ perspectives and equips them with evidence-based methods to engage students more effectively in their learning and transformative journey.
